At American Legion Post 69, we are proud to invest in the education of our youth by awarding scholarships to students in Lowndes County and Columbus.
Our scholarship program provides financial assistance to high school seniors in eight participating schools, helping them further their education and achieve their goals.
Each year, we award a total of$6,000 per school, distributed as follows:
First Place:$3,000
Second Place:$2,000
Third Place:$1,000
Scholarship recipients will receive half of their award in the first semester and the remaining half in the second semester.

High school students in Lowndes County, Mississippi, are eligible to apply for the American Legion Post 69 Scholarship. We encourage all qualifying students to take advantage of this opportunity to support their educational goals.

Scholarship Selection Process
Scholarship applications are reviewed by theAmerican Legion Post 69 Scholarship Committee. Each school’s applicantscompete only within their own school, ensuring equal opportunity for all students. The committee carefully evaluates applications and selects the top three recipients for each school.
Once winners are determined, we notify the schools, which then inform students of their awards. Scholarships are presented during each school'sSenior Awards Presentation.
Recognizing Our Scholars
We take great pride in recognizing our scholarship recipients. Each year, we announce the winners in local newspapers and attend school award ceremonies to present the scholarships in person.
