American Legion Post 69 Scholarship Program
Supporting the Future of Our Community
Empowering Through Education
At American Legion Post 69, we are proud to invest in the education of our youth by awarding scholarships to students in Lowndes County and Columbus.

Our scholarship program provides financial assistance to high school seniors in eight participating schools, helping them further their education and achieve their goals.
Each year, we award a total of $6,000 per school, distributed as follows:
- First Place: $3,000
- Second Place: $2,000
- Third Place: $1,000
Scholarship recipients will receive half of their award in the first semester and the remaining half in the second semester.
Scholarship Awards
Students interested in applying for the scholarship can obtain an application through:
- Their school counselor
- A member of the American Legion Post 69

We are working to make the application process available online for the next scholarship cycle to provide easier access to students.

Scholarship Selection Process
Scholarship applications are reviewed by the American Legion Post 69 Scholarship Committee. Each school’s applicants compete only within their own school, ensuring equal opportunity for all students. The committee carefully evaluates applications and selects the top three recipients for each school.
Once winners are determined, we notify the schools, which then inform students of their awards. Scholarships are presented during each school's Senior Awards Presentation.
Recognizing Our Scholars
We take great pride in recognizing our scholarship recipients. Each year, we announce the winners in local newspapers and attend school award ceremonies to present the scholarships in person.
Annual Commitment
This scholarship program is an annual initiative of American Legion Post 69, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to supporting education and future leaders in our community.
